Four Students and Seven Teachers From WSD Honored by Economic Development Council

Four students and seven teachers from the Wentzville School District (WSD) were recognized at the St. Charles County STEM Awards Breakfast on March 9, 2026, hosted by the Economic Development Council (EDC).
The breakfast pays tribute to high school students who have shown notable excellence in STEM subjects.
Congratulations to WSD students Natalie Kiehl of Holt High School, Matthew Medina of Liberty High School, PJ Hoette of North Point High School, and Aiden Pineda of Timberland High School for their recognition.
At the breakfast, the EDC also announced its 2026 Randy Schilling Grant winners. This grant, named in honor of local IT entrepreneur and STEM advocate Randy Schilling, aims to support K-12 teachers in St. Charles County by providing funding for STEM-related classroom materials during the 2026-27 academic year. The WSD Randy Schilling STEM Grant winner was Scott Cleveland of Peine Ridge Elementary.
The Bernard J. DuBray STEAM Grant for Fine Arts Educators winners were also honored. This grant, named in honor of local retired Fort Zumwalt Superintendent and STEAM advocate Dr. Bernie DuBray, aims to support fine arts educators looking to integrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) into their curriculum by providing funding for the STEAM-related classroom materials during the 2026-27 academic year. WSD Bernard J. DuBray STEAM Grant winners included:
- Trevor Carter, Holt High School
- Matthew Fay-Silver, South Middle
- Cori Maze, Timberland High School
- Shannon McCarty, Discovery Ridge Elementary
- Courtney White, Timberland High School
- Pam Winter, Green Tree Elementary
Since their inception, these educator grant programs have delivered more than $103,000 in funding to local classrooms, expanding hands-on STEM and STEAM learning opportunities across St. Charles County.
